India have now lost three matches in a row in South Africa. Can they end their losing streak and stay alive in the series? Read our preview for the second ODI that gets underway Boland Park, Paarl at 2:00 PM IST.
After a drubbing in the first game, South Africa has bounced back strong and have won two Tests and the first ODI, leaving India shellshocked. Where is India going wrong? Throughout the tour, or let’s admit that it’s been a while since the batters have contributed to the team’s win. The bowling from India has been extraordinary which has helped them win matches but the batters have been a big letdown.
We saw the same in the Test series, and batters failed to make an impact in the first ODI as well. We are not going to scrutinise the bowling performance in the first ODIs as they were pretty good and credit must go to Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma for scoring hundreds and taking South Africa to a decent total.
However, questions will be raised on batting. In both games, KL Rahul has not been able to play freely as if he is under too much pressure which is not good at all. Dhawan and Kohli played well in the last game but both failed to play through the innings, which they will have to do given the inexperience in the middle order. For India to win, the top-order needs to take responsibility.
South Africa, on the other hand, should not get complacent. They have issues in batting and not always Bavuma or Dussen will score runs. Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock need to contribute as well.

SA vs IND Match Toss Prediction
The wicket is slow and neither of the skippers will be interested in chasing. It should be a straightforward call to win the toss and bat first.
SA vs IND Pitch Report
The surface was on the slower side in the first game and is expected to get even slower in the second game. Starting the inning will be difficult for the batters and spinners will be key.
A hot and humid day awaits the teams in Paarl. The temperatures will hover around high 30s
